Metal buttons that first caught the artist`s eye online for their beautifully rusted hues proved to be unearthed relics from open fields across Europe – many of them former battlefields. There is no information on why these buttons lay buried in the soil, what befell the people who wore them, or who they were. With that awareness, they were put to rest, sheltered beneath a hand-crocheted cover of iron wire. The time and physical pain involved in making this armor are offered as a small act of compassion and remembrance for those unknown lives.
