Texto was inspired by the Chinese puzzle ball and by a personal childhood memory of searching for an inner kernel in an object from the artist’s parents’ home. The work consists of three concentric spheres formed by letters spelling the phrase “A mi me mima mi mamá.” This was one of the first sentences learned in reading and writing lessons in first grade, when the artist was a child in Uruguay. It means: “My mother pampers me.”

In none of the layers of the sculpture is the phrase ever completed. It is continually interrupted – never fully arriving, never fulfilled. Disillusionment remerges again and again.
